Yvonne Wolny (M.D., J.D., FAGOC)
Dr. Wolny earned her J.D. from the University of Illinois Chicago and her M.D. from Karol Marcinkowski Medical Academy in Poznan, Poland. She is also licensed as patent attorney having passed the patent bar exam administered by the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). She also holds an M.D. and her Ph.D in Molecular Biological Investigations of Primary Breast Cancer from the University of Hamburg in Germany (magna cum laude).
Dr. Yvonne Wolny is board certified in obstetrics and gynecology with over 25 years of clinical experience specializing in obstetrics, vaginal deliveries, cesarean sections, gynecology, laparoscopic and daVinci (robotic) gynecological surgery, as well as management of various gynecological conditions. She currently practices both obstetrics and gynecology in a hospital and clinic setting. As such, she can provide expert witness opinion (for plaintiffs and defendants) and consultation in both fields, obstetrics and gynecology. Her expertise in gynecology lies in evaluating standards of surgical care, causation of injuries, and postoperative complications. With regards to obstetrics, she is familiar with standards of care in prenatal care, labor and delivery, complication during delivery including shoulder dystocia, birth injuries, hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy, postpartum hemorrhage, and other postpartum complications.
Dr. Wolny is a licensed attorney in Illinois and D.C. and worked as an associate attorney in medical malpractice defense firm in Chicago. There, she participated in answering legal complaints, discovery preparation, depositions preparation, and physicians’ consultation prior to depositions and trials. Because of her obstetrical and gynecological clinical experience, Dr. Wolny mainly worked on cases involving birth injury, neonatal complications, and maternal complications. She also assisted with, among other cases, gynecology and general surgery operative complications such as undiagnosed intraoperative organ injuries and unconsented procedures.
Dr. Wolny has published 15 presentations and papers on a wide-variety of topics. Topics include minimally invasive gynecologic surgery advancement, da Vinci myomectomy, daVinci gynecologic surgery, pelvic floor reconstruction, and medical legal cases. Dr. Wolny works with both Defense and Plaintiff firms.
