Gynecology

Dr. Wolny’s experience extends to diverse areas of gynecology and gynecologic surgery, including the minimally invasive daVinci procedures (daVinci Myomectomy and daVinci Hysterectomy) among others. She has treated gynecologic diseases such as abnormal bleeding, uterine fibroids, pelvic pain, ovarian/adnexal cysts, pelvic organ prolapse, menopausal symptoms, and more.
daVinci Hysterectomy and daVinci Myomectomy
Dr. Wolny has extensive expertise in robotic-assisted gynecologic surgery, with a particular focus on hysterectomies and myomectomies using the daVinci Surgical System. Over the years, she has performed several hundred robotic-assisted hysterectomies and myomectomies, addressing conditions such as uterine fibroids, abnormal uterine bleeding, endometriosis, pelvic pain, and/or pelvic organ prolapse. She is familiar with potential complications that might occur during these types of procedures such as ureteral injury, bowel injury, and undiagnosed intraoperative bleeding. Her clinical outcomes with daVinci gynecological surgeries consistently align with national benchmarks for minimally invasive surgery including minimal intraoperative blood loss, minimal scarring, precision, and expedited patient recovery times.
Dr. Wolny is well-versed in the scientific literature surrounding daVinci hysterectomies and myomectomies. She can contextualize outcomes against current evidence. Her analysis also involves causation of complications such as whether adverse events stem from the robotic system, surgeon technique, or patient specific factors. She has presented at various international meetings on topics related to robotic-assisted gynecological surgery. Select presentations have been published in scientific journals.
Open Gynecologic Surgeries
(Hysterectomy, Myomectomy)
Dr. Wolny has extensive experience with open gynecological procedures including hysterectomies, myomectomies, and adnexal cyst removal. She is familiar with potential complications that might occur during these types of procedures including ureteral injury, bowel injury, vascular injury, and undiagnosed intraoperative bleeding. Undiagnosed ureteral injuries represent one of the leading litigation causes with which Dr. Wolny is familiar how to avoid, diagnose intraoperatively, and manage postoperatively.
